The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Mexico offers engineering education and research opportunities of the highest quality. As one of the largest departments within this flagship state university, we have provided curricula and support services for many decades. Our graduates have performed excellently in research, industry, education, and government.

The majority of the MS graduates seek industrial positions involving research and development work; most PhD degree recipients prefer research careers in industry, government, or research and teaching careers at institutions of higher education.

Our department has a tradition of outstanding scholarship. Several of our senior faculty members have been honored with the grade of Fellow in professional societies. Moreover, some of the faculty members currently hold editorships of archival journals.
