Dr. Bruce Noll

Bruce Noll (Lecturer III) holds an Ed.D. in Adult Education from the University of South Dakota ('89) and and M.A. in Communication Theory from the University of Hawaii ('71).  He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting and Film  from the University of Idaho.    His teaching load is split in the ELOL Department between the Ed Lead and the OLIT Programs. Bruce also serves as the Coordinator for the undergraduate OLIT Program, "Technology and Training."  Dr. Noll also teaches for UNM's Freshman Learning Community, a special topics course combining entomology and public speaking. He currently teaches a course in the University Honors Program entitled, "The Orality of Poetry." He is a husband, father, grandfather, poet, hiker, amateur entomologist, and an interpreter of the poetry of Walt Whitman. See his website: http://www.unm.edu/~banoll.

Experience in Education

Dr. Noll worked two years in Philadelphia Public Schools for the Communications Experience Project; was a media specialist consultant for the Teacher Resource Center, McKeesport, PA School District, and Director of the Educational MediaCenter with instructional development responsibilities at the University of South Dakota.  He has taught at three colleges, including TVI-Albuquerque before coming to UNM in 1997.

Grants

Since 1988 Bruce has been on the New Mexico Humanities Council Scholar/Speaker Program.  He appears as the American Poet Walt Whitman (see personal website above) in a program entitled, Walt Whitman's America. His programs on Whitman have been seen in 26 states, Iceland, and China.
