Self-Managed Application materials for the Educational Linguistics Program are available online at http://www.unm.edu/preview/na_grad.html. In addition, potential applicants are encouraged to contact faculty in their areas of interest to learn more about our program and faculty. A complete discussion of graduate study requirements is found in the UNM Catalog, which can be downloaded from the UNM web site at http://www.unm.edu/~unmreg/Catalogs/2006-07Catalog.pdf. Hard copies are also provided at the new student orientation in the Fall. Applicants to the Ph.D. program who completed the M.A. at UNM within the last three semesters must file a “Request For Change or Addition of Degree or Graduate Unit” form, together with:
1.) A writing sample,The letter of recommendation forms and letter of intent follow-up information can be found by scrolling down to the bottom of the graduate applications webpage:

Three letters of recommendation and a letter of intent are required parts of the application packet. In addition, a writing sample is required; you should submit a copy of the M.A. thesis or a research paper of high quality. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are not required by the program in Educational Linguistics.Application deadline: December 1st.International applicants, please be alert that the Educational Linguistics application deadline is earlier than UNM’s deadline for university admission. Once the Admissions criteria are met, the Selections Committee of the Educational Linguistics faculty will review all applications for admission and collectively decide on the suitability of the applicants, subject to review by the entire faculty. The decision-making process will include considerations of balance of interests within the program, compatibility of applicant interests with program faculty, and the current limit on admissions.Checklist for U.S. Applicants:
