The Fault in Our Stars

OFFICIAL TRAILER

In John Green's young adult novel, "The Fault in Our Stars," sixteen year old Hazel Lancaster is diagnosed with incurable thyroid cancer. Her parents send her to a Cancer Kids support group where she meets a boy, Augustus Waters. Augustus has lost his leg from cancer, but he is in remission and seems to have some hope and optimism. Hazel and Gus fall in love. As their relationship grows, Hazel and Gus search for answers to questions about life and death. Hazel dreams of asking Peter Van Houten, her favorite writer, to reveal the ending of his book, which is unresolved. After reading the book, Gus shares Hazel's interest in how the story ends and emails the author. Together they travel to Europe to meet Van Houten only to discover he is a callous drunk who is unwilling to answer any of Hazel's questions. While in Europe, Augustus reveals that his cancer has returned. He dies shortly after returning home leaving Hazel heart-broken. Eventually, Hazel comes to terms with Augustus's death. She finds closure at the funeral when she talks to Peter Van Houten and discovers his own daughter died of cancer, which to some extend explains his horrible behavior. The story ends with Hazel reading Augustus's letter where he reveals that he was happy with the choices he made in life. Hazel's final words confirm that she feels happy with her choices too.
