Writing Proficiency

To graduate, all UNM undergraduates must demonstrate their ability to read critically and write at the university level. The most common way to meet this requirement is to complete English 101 and 102.

The department does not accept CLEP scores to determine placement. However, the University Writing Proficiency requirement can be met if your entrance exam scores are high enough or if you have equivalent credits transferred from another university.
