This course for advanced writers of creative nonfiction will focus both on a wide reading in the genre as well as working on writing and workshopping your own essays. We will read a variety of forms of nonfiction, from the lyric essay, to memoir, to travel writing, to the personal essay and literary journalism. I'll ask you to try out the various forms in writing exercises, as well as develop at least one well-revised essay of your own. This course should help you hone your own skills as a writer, as well give you more background in the historyand traditions of creative nonfiction.
