A course in the basics of traditional grammar - syntax, tenses, parts of speech, transformations, and so forth. Grammar is the bones of writing (as rhetoric is the flesh), so we shall become chiropractors, osteopaths. Exercises, a series of tests, possibly some extra credit work.
