This course will develop your skills as literary critics and prepare you for your future English studies. You will be introduced to important critical approaches to literature, and we will practice applying these approaches to our study of literature from various time periods and genres. In other words, this course will introduce you to the world of literary criticism and help you develop your own voice as a literary critic. To this end, this course requires extensive reading and writing, including brief weekly response papers, larger literary analyses, and one major literary research paper.
