In English 297 we will be considering the canon of American Literature from the Civil War into the present. Our journey will take us across the American landscape as its fortunes wax and wane, and we will be reading authors from diverse backgrounds as they reflect the attitudes of our country during both boom and bust. You will be expected to write two papers and have a mid-term and final examination and a few quizzes just to keep you sharp.
