Southwestern Film Library

The English Department’s Southwestern Film Library is intended for the pedagogical development and enhancement of undergraduate and graduate courses focusing on the southwest. Funded by a UNM TAS Grant, the library contains movies filmed or set in the Southwest, broadly defined as Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, California, and the U.S.-Mexico border. Similarly inclusive, the collection houses mainstream western, drama, action, and horror movies alongside documentaries, independent films, and movies of historical interest. The videos are accessible to English faculty and students, as well as faculty and students of English courses cross-listed with American, Chicana/o, Native, and the Women’s studies programs. The library should grow over time, and the collection welcomes video donations to enhance the catalog below. Videos may be checked out from the Leon Howard Memorial Library for educational purposes.
