Information about the Internship

What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?

Desktop Publishing Proficiencies.

What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?

  • Corporate Statement of Qualifications (SOQ): This large document, containing mission statements, descriptions and photos of completed projects, and key staff member resumes may be the single-most critical piece of marketing collateral available in a construction (or architectural/environmental/engineering) company’s cache of marketing tools.
  • Website: Once the SOQ is complete, Intern will coordinate efforts to complete Laguna Construction’s website currently under construction. The “Electronic SOQ” will be the cornerstone of our external website. In addition to content development and rhetorical decisions, Intern will be managing this effort by coordinating with her/his mentor and website development staff (programmers and graphic artists).

How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?

100%. Primary Mentor will be available 24/7. As previously stated, the SOQ is a mission-critical document for Laguna Construction moving forward. Intern will be undertaking this effort under the guidance of executive and principal staff members, in addition to her/his primary Mentor. The Intern will be required to develop a schedule and strategy for completion to include milestones for data call requests/receipt, red team review, edit/format, hardcopy publication, etc.

Is the internship paid or a volunteer opportunity? Compensation will be discussed during interview.

Expected range of hours worked per week (cannot exceed 20) 15-20 hours

Expected duration (normally cannot be less than 4 weeks) 8 weeks or more.
