Information about the Internship

What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?

Intern will be responsible for a variety of clerical and other tasks, including but not limited to transcription, correspondence with editors and agents, grant-writing, travel management and coordination, research on a variety of topics ranging from history to pop culture, computer skills a plus, but good keyboarding skills a requirement (50 wpm)

What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?

Any grants written. Project status updates. Research reports.

How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?

Mentorship and supervision will be regularly available, as well as on request. Dr. Dunaway and the office administrator, Kathleen Hardy, will be available for questions in addition to providing direction at the beginning of a project and at regular stages throughout.

Is the internship paid or a volunteer opportunity? $500 honorarium at end of semester

Expected range of hours worked per week (cannot exceed 20)

Full semester.

Location of the work: Oral History Office on north Rio Grande Boulevard

Other pertinent information:

This internship focuses on publishing, editing, and printing documents. The intern will help develop an NPR radio series; work with editors and agents; write reports and grants; conduct database research. Applicant must be able to work independently, possess professional-level English skills and be detail-oriented.
