What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?
Tricia Hall & Associates, an independent meeting planning company located in the Albuquerque area, is currently seeking a part-time Administrator/Meeting Planning Assistant to help with a variety of administrative and meeting planning tasks. Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office (including familiarity with Access - will train, if necessary) and have strong organizational, project management, and writing/editing skills. Intern will assist in generating correspondence, writing articles, brochures, proofreading, database management and other administrative duties related to meetings, conventions and association management.
What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?
Candidate will assist in meeting planning and convention preparation and association-based work, including all aspects of meeting planning support and activities. Administrative duties will include project management, writing and editing, research, client services, correspondence, and database upkeep. The intern will be able to provide sample writing samples, brochures, conference support materials, research results and evaluation summaries upon completion of the internship.
How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?
The intern will work directly with the owner of Tricia Hall & Associates. A procedures manual is available for additional support and training if necessary.
Is the internship paid or a volunteer opportunity?
The internship is a paid position. Hourly wage is commensurate with experience with opportunities for wage increases. The intern will receive a gas stipend and lunch will be provided on days intern works in the office.
Expected range of hours worked per week (cannot exceed 20)
8 to 20 hours per week; hours are flexible to intern's school schedule. This is a part-time contract position.
Expected duration (normally cannot be less than 4 weeks)
Flexible; can be one semester or more than one semester depending on the intern's needs.
Location of the work:
Most work is performed at the home office of Tricia Hall; on occasion the intern may perform some projects off-site at their own home.
Other pertinent information:
The position is ideally suited for a student in the English department (particularly those considering a professional writing concentration), as it requires writing skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of organization. In the past, the position has also served as an internship for English 499.
Reliable transportation is required; transportation subsidy available to help offset transportation costs.
