Information about the Internship
What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?
Interns will write press releases for distribution and posting, write stories/briefs for inclusion in print and electronic versions of UNM Today. Interns may design flyers, assist with Web design, posting, depending upon interest and experience.
What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?
Interns will have tear sheets with their bylines from UNM publications as well as bylined stories they write and, with assistance, place in newspapers around the state.
How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?
Interns generally work 10 hours per week with one weekly face-to-face meeting to review electronically submitted work, receive new assignments, ask questions. Mentor is available via email, phone or in person, depending upon the level of supervision requested/needed.
