Information about the Internship

What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?

Tasks: special projects, research and the development of press releases, write articles, do some editing.

Skills : team player, command of the English language, self motivated, creative, positive attitude and pleasant people skills, inquisitive and respectful, comfortable with using the Internet and Word programs

What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?

Press releases, shorts, articles etc.

How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?

Since this is a virtual organization with staff around the city, the individual will work from home. Access to high-speed Internet is essential, as is a telephone. The publisher is very accessible and available to give direction while answering questions throughout the internship. In addition, the intern will go through an initial, face-to-face training process. There is an opportunity to attend editorial meetings and learn about other phases of production.

Expected range of hours worked per week (cannot exceed 20) 10-15

Expected duration (normally cannot be less than 4 weeks) 3-6 months

Other pertinent information:

Interns may have the opportunity to attend art events including gallery openings, music venues, and more. Interns who stay on more than one semester will have the opportunity for recognition of their work in the publication.
