What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?
The intern will perform research, writing, editing, and in some cases, assist with program planning for a variety of nonprofit organizations. Ideally, the intern will have creative writing as well as technical writing skills and a background with nonprofit organizations. Ability to handle ongoing deadlines with professionalism and humor. The intern must be committed to The Grant Plant’s mission of providing affordable and superior resource development services to assist nonprofit organizations in enhancing the quality of life for New Mexico residents.
What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?
Grant proposals, brochures, newsletter articles, donor letters, stakeholder relations materials, cover letters, letters of interest, executive summaries, and others.
How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?
The intern should have a high level of self-motivation and integrity since the position is contract-based and work-from home. Excellent record keeping and organization skills will help with this. The Grant Plant will communicate with the intern via in-person meetings, telephone calls, email, and instant messenger. The intern must have their own equipment (computer, DSL, etc.); supplies will be provided.
Is the internship paid or a volunteer opportunity? Paid, $12/hour.
Expected range of hours worked per week (cannot exceed 20) Flexible, approximately 10-20.
Expected duration (normally cannot be less than 4 weeks) As long as possible.
