What tasks will the intern perform; what specific/general skills/experience do you seek?
Special Olympics New Mexico is seeking an intern to assist with the following public relations tasks:
- Assist in the development SONM’s event programs and publications
- Write, edit, and proof for SONM’s e-newsletter and website
What specific documents/communication projects will the intern work with and be able to present in a portfolio (or otherwise substantiate) upon completion of the internship?
- Press releases
- Newsletter articles (web-based)
- Sports information guide
- Public service announcements
- Event programs & media guides
How much supervision/mentoring will the intern likely receive or have available?
The intern will work directly with the Director of Media and Public Relations will have a significant amount of supervision and opportunity to learn through first hand experience.

Expected range of hours worked per week (cannot exceed 20) variable
Expected duration (normally cannot be less than 4 weeks) 3-6 months
Location of the work: onsite

Special Olympics New Mexico works to provide year-round sports training and competition statewide for individuals with intellectual disabilities. More than 2,400 athletes around New Mexico train and compete in 14 Olympic-type summer and winter sports.
