Periodically, we will form panels of 3-5 students who will each talk for 3-5 minutes about their own life experiences with reference to the week's assigned reading. Panel participation earns 3 extra credit points. We want each panel to tap into the demographic diversity of the class, so the application asks for some information about your background. Once we schedule you for a panel we'll give you more information on your brief presentation.
If you are interested in being on a panel, return the application by Friday January 28 at the latest (ASAP, especially if you are interested in the first panel). Bring it to class or send it to Toby at galileo@unm.edu.

Describe how you learned to be female
or male as a child. What did your parents, teachers, community teach
you about gender? What other aspects of either dominant culture or
your own culture taught you about gender?
B) Housework & Parenting
(March 4)
If you have been a full-time houseworker/parent, what was that like for you? If
you've done both full-time "homemaking" work and market work, how
do the experiences compare? If you have grown up in a single-parent
family or are a single parent, how do you manage economically? What
contributes to job satisfaction for home managers and parents?
C) Gender
in the Workplace (March 25)
What kinds of jobs have you had, and
what role has gender played in your work history and experience?
D) Gender,
Religion & Spirituality (April 15)
How have your experiences of religion/spirituality
shaped and been shaped by your gender? What messages do you receive,
agree with and/or resist from the spiritual/religious groups/organizations
you interact with?
