In
this assignment I downloaded STATSGO data from an FTP folder because the NRCS
web site wasn’t functioning. Then I
mostly followed directions, except that I was unable to view the STATSGO Users
Guide initially until I found it on another website. Joining the tables was simply, but relating the tables did not
seem to have such an obvious change as joining. Therefore, I related the appropriate tables several times not
knowing I had already successfully done so.
Having the same two tables related repeatedly did not seem to be a
problem. The required calculations were
performed using Excel to do the math.
This appeared to go well. Then
using the GeoProcessing Wizard to merge, clip, and union the various layers I
came up with a nice display of the land use/classification within the upper
Pecos watershed.
