Professional Chapter seeks student help in Ramah Navajo Water Treatment Project

Ramah Project

Panels The EWB-USA, UNM Student Chapter has finalized their design for the Ramah Solar Thermal Project! The design consists of two solar thermal panels from SolarSheat that will help heat the hogan into the winter months in addition to a significant improvement to the overall insulation of the building.

The student chapter has designed the panel setup and orientation as well as the mounting system that will secure the panels to the odd-shaped roof. Project manager Adam Roukema and his team will be travelling to Ramah, NM in the first week of November to install the system and perform tests. The student chapter will also develop an educational module that they will present to the community in Ramah to teach them about solar energy and why it is important in our world today. From now until the week of installation members of the project will be working on this educational module as well as continuing to raise the remainder of the funds required to pay for the panels.
