General (Liberal Arts) Curriculum.

  1. Courses outside the major:
    1. 40 hours selected from courses offered by departments of the College of Arts & Sciences including core requirements (see Fine Arts Graduation Requirements 6.). Specific requirements include English 220, Expository Writing.
    2. 6 hours selected from other departments of the College of Fine Arts (Dance, fine arts, media arts, music and theatre) or from the School of Architecture and Planning; and
    3. 14 additional hours selected from courses outside the major offered by any college, including Fine Arts.
  2. Major in art:
    1. 15 hours in art history courses including 201-202, History of Art I & II; 250, Modern Art; and 3 hours upper division.
    2. 33 hours in studio courses, including Art Studio 106, Drawing I; 121, Two-Dimensional Design; and 122, Three-Dimensional Design; also required are two courses with one chosen from:
      • 130, Introduction to Electronic Arts;
      • 187, Introduction to Photography;
      • 205, Drawing II;
      • 207, Painting I;
      • 274, Introduction to Printmaking;

      and the other chosen from:

      • 157, Small Scale Metal Construction I;
      • 168, Ceramics I;
      • 213, Sculpture I;

      and 9 hours upper division.

  3. Additional courses in any field, including art.
