Preprofessional Curriculum.
TOTAL 128 hours
Note: Music Students must maintain a 3.00 grade point average in the major.
Recital Requirement. For Theory & Composition majors, one-half of a recital consisting of original compositions is required in the senior year.
Keyboard Requirement. Theory & Composition majors must pass this requirement by the end of the senior year. See the attached information sheet for further details on the keyboard requirement.
NASM Membership. The University of New Mexico is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Requirements for entrance and graduation as set forth in the UNM Catalog are in accordance with published regulations of the National Association of Schools of Music.

KEYBOARD REQUIREMENTS
The Theory & Composition program requires keyboard tasks to be performed before the Theory & Composition faculty at the end-of-semester review process in the junior and senior years. Students who declare their major in their freshman or sophomore year are encouraged to complete these requirements earlier.
