Note: Music students must maintain a 3.00 grade point average in the major.
Recital Requirements. For jazz studies, a one-half recital is required in the junior year and a full recital in the senior year. The Director of Jazz Studies is the advisor for the recitals in cooperation with the applied music teacher.
Piano proficiency examinations apply to all students in Music, except keyboard concentrations or keyboard majors. This examination should be completed satisfactorily by the end of the fourth semester of music study. Piano proficiency exams will be given at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters.
NASM Membership. The University of New Mexico is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Requirements for entrance and graduation as set forth in the UNM Catalog are in accordance with published regulations of the National Association of Schools of Music.
