Note: Music students must maintain a 3.00 grade point average in the major.

Recital Requirements. For string pedagogy, a full recital in the senior year and a half recital as part of Music 470.

Piano proficiency examinations apply to all students in Music, except keyboard concentrations or keyboard majors. This examination should be completed satisfactorily by the end of the fourth semester of music study. Piano proficiency exams will be given at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters.

NASM Membership. The University of New Mexico is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Requirements for entrance and graduation as set forth in the UNM Catalog are in accordance with published regulations of the National Association of Schools of Music.

You must have 26 hours completed, a 2.5 grade point average, English 101 completed with a C or better, at least 12 hours of Music completed and received approval as a concentration in your major instrument. *After completion of this level of Group Piano, you should be able to satisfactorily complete the piano proficiency examination at the end of this semester.
