Piano Competition Internationale. The International Piano Institute introduces a piano competition seeking depth and maturity in performance extending beyond virtuosity. While integrating the finest performances with the greatest audiences, the Institute has created a venue for pianists of all ages from around the world to perform in New Mexico. Thursday 8, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm - Semi-Finals; Friday 9th 10 am to 5pm - Semi-Finals; Saturday, 10th 10am to 5:00 pm - Finals; 7pm - Concerto Finals; Sunday 11th 3:00pm to 5:00 pm Awards Ceremony and Winners' Concert.

Virtuoso trombonist Abbie Conant (performer-artist, text and drawings) and her husband, composer William Osborne (music, video and direction) will perform: CYBELINE: a quadrophonic surround sound mini opera with computer generated accompaniment, video and live electronics.

TAOS CHAMBER MUSIC GROUP. The thirteenth season will open with a program called "A Musical Saga" featuring the Brahms "Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115," Jean Sibelius' recently reconstructed "En Saga Septet for flute, clarinet, string quartet and double bass," and Erwin Schulhoff's "Concertino for flute/piccolo, viola and double bass". Musicians include UNM artist faculty Keith Lemmons, clarinet and Mark Tatum, double bass. With Nancy Laupheimer, flute and artistic director; David Felberg and Nicole Maniaci, violins; Cherokee Randall, viola and Felix Wurman, cello.
