  Registration for these classes is now closed.
  FAC classes are not offered in Spring semesters.

Cover of 2011 FAC Guide In college, you have much more Freedom to Choose your classes. To use that freedom you will have to evaluate many options. These Freshman Academic Choices increase your options. Take time NOW (before your Lobo Orientation or CEP Orientation) to narrow down your options when selecting your UNM classes for fall. The classes and programs in this Guide are specifically for new freshmen. Your range of options depends on your interests and your academic preparation.

Freshman Learning Communities - FLC

Start your university experience right in two small classes taught by some of UNM’s best faculty. Each of the 29 FLC offerings is unique, so browse them NOW and note the FLCs that interest you. You may register for FLC classes when you register for the rest of your classes at your Lobo Orientation or CEP Orientation .

Freshman Interest Groups - FIG

FIG's are excellent choices for those of you who want to accelerate successful transition to university life. Students are part of a like minded group where your instructor is your mentor, guide and expert in the blocked discipline specific core course.  You will be introduced to faculty, research, cutting edge inquiry/discoveries across UNM.  You may register for FIG classes when you register for the rest of your classes at your Lobo Orientation or CEP Orientation.

College Success Seminars

College Success Seminars - CSS

College Success Seminars introduce students to UNM, research and faculty engaged in cutting edge inquiry and discovery here at UNM. Students are part of a small "like minded" group where your instructor is your mentor and guide toward college success. This seminar meets one day each week and is designed to fit into most schedules.   You may register for a College Success Seminar class when you register for the rest of your classes at your Lobo Orientation or CEP Orientation

Living & Learning Communities

Living & Learning Communities - LLC

The Living & Learning Communities (LLC) provide you the exciting opportunity to live with your peers who share your major, minor and career interests! While living together in on-campus student apartments, you also take courses together based on your academic interests! This is university life at its best - being actively involved in your education by integrating your academics, residence and social life! Become part of a community at UNM!  You may register for LLC classes when you register for the rest of your classes at your Lobo Orientation or CEP Orientation.  Registration in LLCs requires a formal application process.
