Catalog Description: The purpose of this course is to help students learn how to analyze, critique and construct arguments in context, in other words, how to read and write argumentative essays.

Catalog Description: A one- to three-hour seminar for 25 first term freshmen which meets once a week to explore the university, its resources, and how to enhance important skills for a positive college experience.

 

FIG 655- With the information age well upon us, it is increasingly important to have the ability to filter through information in a critical way. "Where's the Argument" is a FIG that will explore and practice techniques of critical thinking. Students will learn how to identify a valid argument and apply critical thinking skills to writing informative and persuasive papers. Logical reasoning games will make the class interesting and interactive. This challenging class is designed to prepare students for success in all college level courses.
