Personal Statement
Your application packet must include a personal statement of interest written by you. It should address how you expect to gain from your participation in the Freshmen Summer Bridge Program.
Suggestions
- Your statement should be at least one page (single spaced) in length.
- Speak with teachers, counselors and others about suggestions on how to write the statement.
- Your statement should address:
- Your academic accomplishments
- Extracurricular activities
- Community service
- Your academic goals
- Your career goals
- Family support
- Why should you be selected to participate in the FSBP?
- Other information
- Your personal statement is your chance to market yourself.
- Construct an outline of your paper before writing.
- After you have written your rough draft ask someone to proof read and edit it for you. It would be in your favor to ask an English teacher.
- Rewrite your statement incorporating editorial comments.
- A second proof reading is always a good idea.
- Finalize your paper.
