Teacher Recommendation
You will be required to submit a Teacher Recommendation Form that has been completed by one of your high school mathematics or science teachers.
Suggestions
- Select a science or mathematics teacher with whom you have a strong positive student-teacher relationship, preferably one who you have had several classes with.
- Take care to select a teacher who considers you as one of his/her best students and will speak favorably on your behalf.
- Take time to talk with the teacher about:
- Your educational goals
- Your career goals
- How your family will support your goals
- Your volunteer activities, and
- How you plan to give back to your community
- Make sure you also discuss how you, your family, your community (including your high school) will gain from your participation in the summer bridge program.
- Fill out and sign the top of the Teacher Recommendation form and leave it with the teacher to complete.
- Thank the teacher and ask when he/she can expect to have the form ready for you to pick up.
- Make an appointment with the teacher to pick up the form when it is ready. IMPORTANT: Be on time to pick up the form!
- Do not send anyone in your place to pick up the form, do this in person.
- Thank the teacher and tell them you will keep them informed on the status of your application to the program.
