Rubrics Used in Christina's 224 Class in Spring of 2007

 

1. Rubric for Weekly Writing Exercises and Reading Reflections

Given to students first week of the semester

A General Reflection and Writing Exercise Rubric:

+ = 10/10 Exceptional work: It meets the specific requirements of the assignment. Craft and content show precise attention and excellence at every level from global concerns to sentence structure, voice, and emotional/intellectual engagement. This work has few or no errors in grammar and syntax.

v + = 9/10 Good work: It meets the requirements of the assignment. Care has been given to both content and craft. Some errors in grammar and syntax may exist.

v = 8/10 Average work: It meets the basic requirements of the assignment, but content and craft could show more care in precise development, and numerous distracting errors in grammar and syntax may exist.

v- = 7/10 Borderline work: It just meets the basic requirements of the assignment but content and craft show imprecise development and numerous distracting errors in grammar and syntax may exist.

 

I or R = 6/10 Incomplete or Revise. This work does not meet the basic requirements of the assignment. See original exercise and/or my comments for the kinds of changes necessary to fulfill the assignment. If you receive an R, you have two weeks to revise this work after its return. Failure to revise will result in a 6/10 in the gradebook.
