Text Box: Project Monitoring System (PMS) using Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Text Box: Text Box: Conclusion:
GIS in representing can be used to integrate the spatial and non-spatial information in a single environment.
Using GIS Construction schedule can be integrated with corresponding spatial details so as to understand progress monitoring easier.
PMS-GIS has a potential to visualize construction progress along side with CPM-generated work schedule.
Some of the advantages includes can be used in all phases of construction like other available tools, Specific and localized information about cost, labor, safety and quality can be viewed in PMS-GIS., Project can be viewed in detail.

Future work:
As a case study develop a 3D Model of a building for a construction company in Albuquerque.
Develop the model based on the different Modeling tools available.( Tools explored so far: Building Information Modeling (BIM), Auto desk Revit, )
Compare the efficiency of the models. (Interoperability, ease of use)
Do Cost analysis and suggest the most efficient and feasible tool
Text Box: Objective:
To demonstrate that Geographical Information System (GIS) can be used to represent spatial aspects of the construction progress graphically in three dimensions alongside a synchronized construction schedule.

The sub objective is to develop a construction database in GIS environment
Text Box: Methodology:
Step 1: Create Architectural Design
Step: 2 Develop a construction schedule
Step: 3 Transfer drawings to Arc GIS
Step: 4Merging components/features
Step: 5 Create Database:
Step 6: Update Schedule
Step: 7 creating 3D view of project in Arc GIS
Step: 8 showing synchronized progress in 3D drawings and
      Schedule

Text Box: Background:
GIS provides spatial solutions to many fields of civil engineering such as transportation, water resources, facility management, urban planning, construction and E-business.GIS has been used before in the construction industry in creating databases for the soils, Arc Site is used to assist the designers in identifying suitable sites, site layout system called Material Plan helps the construction managers in identifying materials, Arc Shed can used in precast building construction [3,5]. GIS has helped in communication of information, as the information is always referenced to a geographical location such as a location on a construction site.
