STUDENT NUMBER

The University of New Mexico uses the individual student's social security number as the student's identification at the University. This number is used for recordkeeping purposes only. The authority to use the social security number as the student's number comes from the Board of Regents and was adopted March 24, 1967. It is, therefore, mandatory that students disclose their social security number to the University for identification purposes.
