The Feldenkrais Method® with Mary Ann Thomson |
|
“Feldenkrais is the most sophisticated and
effective method I have seen for the prevention and reversal of deterioration
of function.” – Margaret Mead, anthropologist Mary Ann Thomson |
The Feldenkrais
Method, Functional Integration, the first and original
technique is a one to one, hands-on learning process. The practitioner uses
gentle touch and exploratory movement to provide important information
directly to the neuromuscular system of the individual. The second technique, commonly
called Awareness Through Movement, uses verbally-directed, gentle
exercises to guide participants. These “lessons” are exploratory in nature,
emphasizing personal awareness while increasing movement vocabulary. Both techniques can bring about dramatic change, promoting our human ability to learn more effective ways to organize and move our bodies. Both techniques are designed to reorganize neuromuscular pathways and break up old habits of moving, sensing, feeling and thinking. |
