Part-time Adjunct Faculty

Position Summary:

UNM Valencia Campus is seeking Spring 2012 adjunct instructors for the "Highway to Success" Transitional Studies program in: Writing Standard English (English 100), Developmental English (English 099), Academic Studies in English: College Prep (ACAD 100 and 101), Introduction to UNM and Higher Education (UNIV 101), Pre-Algebra (Math 099), Introduction to Algebra (Math 100), and Critical Thinking for Math (Math 193).

Writing instructors must be experienced in teaching the full writing process to prepare students for the rhetorical challenges of English 101. All instructors must be able to engage students in critical thinking with difficult readings and should have experience teaching adult students.

Instructors in the "Highway to Success" program work in a learning community environment and are expected to participate in monthly program meetings as well as planning meetings with colleagues.

Compensation per credit hour (range 2 - 4 cr.):

  • BA/S = $700.
  • MA/S = $750.
  • Ph.D. or terminal degrees = $800.

Tutor - Title V Learning Communities (Student Employee Position)

Tutors needed for Developmental Studies: Math, English, and Reading. Tutor will attend classes with developmental studies students and conduct supplemental instruction in addition to individual tutoring sessions.

Applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and a diverse student body.
