The American with Disabilities Act:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The goal of this two-hour workshop is to help you gain a basic understanding of The American with Disabilities Act (1990)as it pertains to UNM policy.

You will learn about:

1. Applicable Laws

2. Relevant University Policies

3. Your Rights and Responsibilities

We will review specific case studies and end with a complete overview.

Upon completion of the class participants should have a basic understanding of:

  • Concepts and terminology of the ADA
  • "Reasonable Accommodation"
  • "Interactive Process"
  • The purpose and importance of Documentation and confidentiality
  • Internal UNM Processes
  • Rights and Responsibilities

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

UNM Managers, Supervisors and Staff are encouraged to attend to learn about their rights and responsibilities as it pertains to UNM policy.

TEACHING METHODS

Lecture, small and big group discussion.
