Imran Saleem - Post-doc

Imran Saleem received a BSc (hons) degree in Pharmacy from Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He then pursued a Ph.D in the area of Pharmaceutics with specific interest in drug delivery at Aston University, UK entitled “improving diagnosis and oral vaccination strategies against bovine tuberculosis”. Following successful completion of his Ph.D he wanted to combine his knowledge and skills learned during his PhD with molecular and cell biology and thus develop new improved therapies through a better understanding of diseases at the molecular and cellular level. Consequently, Imran completed a 1 year postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr Eric Adams at Aston University, UK working on steroid metabolism and estrogen receptor activation in human breast cancers. Currently he is working as a postdoctoral research scientist at the college of Pharmacy, University of New Mexico, USA. His focus of research here is to develop novel particulate delivery systems for targeting delivery to lung cancers as. His work will incorporate delivering chemotherapeutics and macromolecules to the site of action using nanoparticles delivery systems incorporated into Dry Powder Inhalers (DPI’s). He is also involved in studying interparticulate forces between micronized drugs and carrier particles in DPI’s as a prediction of performance. Imran is currently a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, the AAPS and RDD.
