In the middle of the semester, your IDEA Departmental Coordinator will give you an IDEA Faculty Information Form (“FIF”) to fill out.
On the FIF you specify both your course details as well as the learning objectives for your students. See Instructions: Completing the FIF.
You can specify up to 12 learning objectives for your course, although in practice you should specify at least three and no more than five objectives. See: Instruction: Selecting FIF Objectives.
Additionally, you must weight each of your learning objectives as either “Important” or “Essential.” Careful thought must be given to the weightings, as they affect the recommendations that the IDEA will report to you for improving your teaching. If no objectives are selected, they all default to being "Important." Data won't be useful to faculty.
If the enrollment is left blank, the system will count the number of responses as the enrollment and show a 100% response rate. Since class size is also a variable (albeit a less important one) on the adjusted scores, those will be affected a bit - depending on the difference in the enrollment number and the responses submitted.
If no discipline code is selected, not only will the faculty member not receive any discipline norms, if a Group Summary Report is requested for a department the classes without discipline codes won't be included.
Please specify which UNM campus you are associated with (i.e Gallup, Taos, Valencia, etc.).
Return the Faculty Information Form to your IDEA Departmental Coordinator. The FIFs will then be sent to IT, where the course evaluation packets will be assembled. These packets will then be sent back your department to be used in final evaluation process.
