SMALL RESEARCH GRANTS FOR UNM GRADUATE STUDENTS

What We Are Offering:
 The Institute for American Indian Research (IFAIR) announces Graduate Research Scholarships for students whose research focuses on American Indian topics and issues. We welcome research from any discipline or from an interdisciplinary perspective on both historical and contemporary topics. The Institute will award scholarships in the following amounts: $500 and $1000.

What Awards Cover:
 The funds may be used for research trips, supplies, books, or other research expenses. Awards operate through reimbursement only. The number of awards made will depend on both the quality of the applications received and the scholarship amount requested. Awardees will be asked to give a public presentation at a future IFAIR sponsored research colloquia prior to their graduation.

What to Include in Your Application:
 Graduate students should submit the following items: 
(1) a curriculum vita (no more than two pages);
 (2) a brief proposal describing your research and significance (no more than two pages) and indicate if you have received UNM IRB and/or American Indian Tribal approval to conduct your research; 
(3) a budget statement indicating what scholarship amount you are applying for ($500, $1000) and how you will use the funds; and 
(4) a letter of support from a mentoring faculty member.

When to Submit Your Application:
 Applications must be received by Friday, September 28 @ 5:00 p.m.
When Awards Will Be Announced: 
Awards will be announced no later than the first week in November 2012.
