SUMMER STUDY IN GERMANY

Power of the Sun: Advanced Constructions & Technologies
Study abroad in Germany for 4 weeks (June 4 – 29, 2012):
· Learn about the technologies & planning/architectural aspects of solar power in the country that is one of the world’s top photovoltaic installers
· Visit housing developments & solar installations that illustrate historical & contemporary approaches to building sustainable communities (e.g., Berlin)
· Meet with architects, engineers & PV manufacturers involved in planning, designing & installing photovoltaic systems in individual residences, larger buildings & utility-scale solar farms
· Stay at a monastery “Nikolauskloster” & study at the historic castle “Schloss Dyck” near Düsseldorf
· Earn 6 UNM credits in 2 courses (ARCH 462/662, ECE 495/595) that will be cross-listed by other programs (e.g., Sociology, Sustainability Studies)
Estimated program cost: $2,300 plus airfare, travel insurance & UNM tuition
