Europe and Africa (as) Stories:

Folk and Fairy Tales

Study abroad in Germany for 4 weeks (June 3 – 28, 2013):

·        Learn about the roots & history of fairly tales in Germany and draw intercultural comparisons with African folk tales

·        Travel along Germany’s “Fairy Tale Road” and view the Africa collections in museums in Berlin &/or Brussels

·        Meet with prominent academics from the world-renowned African Studies department at the University of Bayreuth

·        Stay at a monastery “Nikolauskloster” & study at the historic castle “Schloss Dyck” near Düsseldorf

·        Earn 6 UNM credits in 2 linked courses: GRMN 336/COMP 336/ENGL 336 and AFST 397/COMP 332/ ENGL 332

 

Estimated program cost: $2,500 plus airfare, travel insurance & UNM tuition; summer scholarships available (Regents’ International Travel Grants, ISI Summer Scholarships)
