Degree Information
The major consists of 36 hours, 21 of which must be 300-level or above. Course distribution is as follows: 6 credit hours in history, 6 in philosophy or religious studies; 3 in social science; 12 in Asian language, 6 elective hours; 3 hours or senior thesis. Majors declare an area of concentration in East, South, or West Asia (Middle East). The minor requires 18 hours, 3 in history; 3 in philosophy or religious studies, and 3 in geography, anthropology, languages or literatures. No more than 9 hours may be selected in any one department and courses used to satisfy the major field may not be applied to the minor. It is recommended that the student take appropriate language courses.
