The Institute for Space and Nuclear Power Studies (ISNPS), a leading research organization within the School of Engineering, has a number of research openings starting this fall. The areas of research are boiling heat transfer and two-phase flow experiments and simulation; single and two-phase flow in coil heat exchangers; supercritical fluids flow and heat transfer with applications to energy conversion; dynamic energy conversion and modeling and operation of turbo-machinery; electronics packing and immersion cooling using nucleate boiling of dielectric liquids on porous and micro-porous surfaces; heat sink design and analysis; thermal and stress analyses for multi-layered structures; modeling and testing of thermo-chemical generation of hydrogen at high and low temperatures; advanced nuclear fuel cycle, fuel design and thermal-hydraulics of Gen-IV and compact nuclear reactors; fluid flow and heat transfer in micro-channels. Available positions are for undergraduate students, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, with a generous stipend commensurate with experience and qualifications. Preference is given to those with demonstrated experience in any of the above areas and with any or all of the following software: ANSYS, Cosmos; Flow Work, Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks and LabView. For best consideration, applications should be submitted with a short bio, a list of references that includes complete contact information, and an employment history. Please submit all applications to the Institute for Space and Nuclear Power Studies, c/o Ms. Mary Bragg. Valid Visa is required, if applicable.
