Best Practices for Using
UNM-LA Computer/Audio-Visual System Podiums
· Please feel free to use the equipment. It is there to assist you.
· Contact the Instructional Technology Center (ITC) for training and assistance if needed well in advance of the first use.
· Contact the ITC for combinations to the setups in the classrooms that you use.
· Please do not share the combinations with others.
· In order to ensure that the setups are consistent and in working order for yourself and all other users:
o Whenever possible, arrive to class early on days that you plan to use the equipment in case there are any problems.
o If the equipment is not in working order when you begin to use it, please contact the ITC immediately.
o Please save your presentations to a CD-ROM or a thumb/jump memory key to use in the classroom setups.
o Please do not unhook or reconfigure cables in the setups to hook into your personal laptop or for any other purpose. Other instructors following you in the classroom may not have the time or expertise to reconfigure the equipment to suit their own needs.
o If you have a special need that the existing setup will not accommodate, please contact the ITC for assistance at least 24 hours in advance.
o When you are finished, please leave the setup as you found it out of courtesy to the next user.
· At the end of your class, please properly power down all equipment used during the session (computer, data projector, speakers, DVD/VCR combo).
· Please re-secure the equipment with the combination lock and place the plastic cover over the computer monitor.
· If you are assigned to a classroom that does not have a setup, portable equipment can be checked out from the ITC. Please contact the ITC at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability of the equipment.
