Dr. Sylvia Celedon-Pattichis Email:  sceledon@unm.edu Dr. Celedon-Pattichis is an Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education in the Department of Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies (LLSS). Her research interests focus on the linguistic and cultural influences on the teaching and learning of mathematics. Additional interests include the acquisition and development of language in children.  Dr. Celedon-Pattichis has taught the following undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of bilingual and mathematics education:  Language, Culture, and Mathematics  Teaching Mathematics in the Elementary School  Seminar in the Education of the Bilingual Student  Master's Seminar: Teaching Issues in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies  History and Theory of Bilingual Education  Student Teaching Bilingual/ESL Seminar  Seminar LLSS  Dr. Celedon-Pattichis received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with areas of specialization in bilingual and mathematics education from The University of Texas at Austin in 1998.
