Comments and suggestions made:
* Add postage costs to membership if necessary to allow mailing of newsletter
* Membership "Head" should announce those members we have not seen lately so
that members could call them and they know they are missed.
* On special events a phone reminder could increase attendance (breakfast,
bingo, Christmas)
* Evening meetings are too far to drive for out of town folks--also get back
late at night.
* May get more members if Corsa membership was not required.
* Suggest lunch meeting during the week. Few members are young enough to be
working. If held during day you might get some folks from Santa Fe or East
Mountains.
* The destination could be a business or museum tour but the drive/cruise should
be the catalyst for everyone to get together. Set up a meet point and drive as a
group.
* In regards to questions about helping members with cars: "This is why most
members join Corvair Club"
* It is 2019, it should no longer be an option. Receive the newsletter via email
or nothing. Folks can print it off at their house.
* Regarding Corsa member requirement: "This is an admin requirement that hurts
attracting new members. Drop the mandatory requirement now and more to a yearly
dues cycle like PPCC and RMC.
* Thank you for surveying the group. Understanding what the members actually
want vs. what folks think they do will be key in the success of the club in 2019
* Caravans are always nice and help available in case of problems. Not current
Corsa member. I have been. Do not agree with this requirement. Never have.
* If the club is to survive, the parliamentary procedure and politics in
meetings needs to be done away with. The club strayed far away from being about
the cars.
* Locally we have evening dinner meetings. 2-3 times a year we tack a biz
meeting on at the end of a driving event. We do a primary rotation of three
restaurants in different parts of St. Louis and St Charles counties.
* The reorg/restart seems to be progressing. Keep pressing.
* Run meetings more businesslike. Speak only when recognized by the president
unless president declares open session. Limit committee reports to committee
matters. Schedule an open discussion time. Do a mix of activities, not just car
stuff. Occasional meeting with other car clubs.
* When I joined CNM, I told Pat I would be an inactive member because of living
two hours away and family priorities. Every so often I make a swap meet or show
and enjoy them very much. My 65 Monza is a driver and is the latest of many I've
owned since starting with a 140 powered open rail sand buggy. I'm an old retired
grease monkey and still work on cars in my own backyard shop (as and when I
can). I enjoy reading CNM and Corsa newsletters because of my fascination with
Corvairs. When I do head your direction, I usually sit down and compare notes
with Pat or one of the CNM members so keep the club active and enjoy the oldies
(they are more fun to drive)
* I understand some members of the club are considering Albuquerque for the next
Tri-State - I like that.
* Tours should be action car shows. So tours should be where we can be seen by
lots of people to generate interest in Corvairs.
* Got to change it up. Monthly meetings sitting around a table is not what a car
club should be doing. An occasional event planning meeting is fine. But,
shouldn't we be doing something with our cars?
* I go to Corsa national event every year. Very seldom is there any one else
from CNM there.
* It's important for us to have a club with the same interests. I believe if we
have an idea what the next meeting brings we might have better attendance ie
speakers or special events.
* Move meetings. Rotate to different parts of New Mexico. I think we are turning
a corner and I look forward to what the "reconstituted" club can do.
* Phil Finch included a note:
My brother, the late Richard Finch had dementia, and he removed most
engines from most of the Corvairs. I will eventually sell some to club members,
but, first, I need help sorting things out. I plan to be in Tularosa, NM from
Jan 10 through Feb 9, 2019.
