Description: POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Inclusion Manager, assists with the supervision and motivation of participants with disabilities. Insures that all identified and approved accommodations are met.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES SUMMARY

1. Assists participants in staying on task, focused and involved, using effective redirection techniques as required.
2. Helps participants understand and follow directions.
3. Uses appropriate techniques to motivate and encourage client participation.
4. Provide appropriate participant supervision, based on the Accommodation Plan established by the Inclusion Manager.
5. Arranges transportation for Inclusion participants to off-site activities as necessary.
6. Enforces program rules and participant Code of Conduct.
7. Provides inclusion participant progress reports to the Inclusion Manager.
8. Supervises activities, which may or may not include participants with disabilities.
9. Makes recommendations to the Inclusion Manager regarding changes to the established Accommodation Plan.
10. Perform clerical, general maintenance and cleaning duties as required.
11. Provide basic Inclusion training for site staff.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum 18 years of age and/or high school diploma or GED.
2. Minimum of six (6) months recreation or child care experience working with people with disabilities. OR completion of 30 college credit hours in Physical Education, Education, Recreation or related field.
3. Must have the ability to plan and prepare organized structured recreational activities; instruct, motivate and lead program participants.
4. Must have basic knowledge to recognize the nature and symptoms of physical, mental and cognitive disabilities; understand the concept of recreational inclusion.
5. Must have the ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants and the general public.
6. Must have the ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants and the general public.
7. Must have the ability to read, write and communicate with others in English.
8. Must have the ability to work under the conditions and with the equipment described.
