| Description: | General Function: The School-Age Caregiver (caregiver) is responsible for providing supervision and care for school-age children through a caring, positive, authoritative relationship. The caregiver makes children feel welcome and comfortable. The caregiver assists in the development of program activities and an environment that are models of quality. Job Segments 1. ADHERES to regular work and activity schedules. 2. WEARS appropriate clothing for childcare. 3. WORKS cooperatively and harmoniously with all staff. 4. IDENTIFIES safety hazards and immediately CORRECTS them or REPORTS them to supervisor. 5. PROTECES and ENHANCES the health, safety and security of children and youth. 6. ATTENDS staff meetings, training events, ASQ meetings, conferences/workshops, etc. 7. MAINTAINS required level of training hours with required documentation. 8. SUPERVISES children carefully and closely and KEEPS group under control at all times. 9. MAINTAINS discipline policy and PROVIDES appropriate level of discipline when necessary. 10. ASSISTS children in a way that develops the child’s role and initiative and INTERACTS in ways that help them learn. 11. PLANS a significant amount of the program curriculum and IMPLEMENTS activities, enrichment clubs and special events. PLANS a wide variety of activities that are designed to facilitate positive development and a sense of community. ENSURES sufficient materials are on hand for planned activities. 12. GEARS the program to the needs of the individual child with concerns for his/her interests and special needs. 13. ENSURES a safe, fun and age appropriate environment that enhances the health, safety and security of children and youth. ASSISTS in preparation of the model environment. 14. KNOWS and APPLIES basic first aid and PREPARES accident reports in cases of accidents and injuries. 15. INTERACTS with parents and children in positive ways and TREATS them with dignity and respect. 16. MAINTAINS a positive and professional attitude with parents, children and staff at all times. 17. COMMUNICATES the child's progress with parents in a positive and supportive manner. 18. MAINTAINS a professional attitude and loyalty to the program and SUPPORTS the policies and philosophy of Children's Choice. 19. MAINTAINS a neat and orderly child care environment. PERFORMS an equal share of general housekeeping duties. MAINTAINS and STORES equipment properly. | ||
| Qualifications: | Entry Requirements: Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the Children's Choice Mission and program goals. Must obtain criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work. Must obtain a TB test before reporting to work. Must have the physical ability to lift children as needed or physically separate children as needed and participate in housekeeping responsibilities. Caregivers must have a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, OR a Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field with three months of experience and three credit hours in child/youth development, OR two years of college with nine months of experience and three credit hours in child/youth development, OR a HS Diploma with 18 months of experience and six credit hours in child/youth development/SAC programming. | ||
