Required Readings:
Examinations/Papers:
There will be three examinations (two mid-terms and a final) and three short papers. The papers will be on assigned topics based on the required readings. Separate instructions will be distributed.
Graduate Students:
Graduate students will, in addition to the regular assignments, write three short reviews of supplementary readings selected in consultation with the instructor.
Grading and Attendance:
Grades will be based on the examinations and the paper assignments. Attendance is expected and will be contributing factor in determining grades. NOTE: Students are responsible for attendance in class and meeting scheduled examinations and established deadlines. Any variations should be discussed in advance, and must be supported by written documentation. Five (5) absences may result in a reduction of one grade; eight (8) absences mya result in disenrollment from the course.
Individual Consultation:
Students are encouraged to meet individually with the instructor about the substance of the course and their individual work.
