Just like the landscaping in our yard.

The back courtyared is now almost finished. After clearing out the tumbleweed, the yard looked something like this:

These are views north and south before we started. Lots of sand and clay. After lots of leveling, building, and some compost, and lots of mulch, the yard looks like this:

The playground and swingset are from kits that contain the hardware and plans, you have to cut the lumber yourself. The areas outside the playarea will get plants next year. They will again be low-water users.

After another year, the yard looks like this:

Aside from the vegetable garden, this whole area gets water less than every 2-3 weeks. The grass area is a mix of blue gamma and buffalo, both of which are native, low-water grasses.
