Dylan tested acids and bases.
Dylan tested how many bricks could be held up by paper cylinders.
Ryan tested resistance and conductivity.
Ryan tested types of invisible inks. This fits in with both his spy/codes/cryptoanalysis interests and being the child of chemists.

Dylan measured the Vitamin C content of various fruits and vegetables- using cornstartch and iodine as his indicator. Again, this was pretty chemistry oriented.
Ryan built bridges our of balsa wood or thin wooden dowels and then tested them to distruction. We had made the first bridges out of the dowels, but they proved to be too strong. So, we made a couple out of balsa wood.
Dylan (being the son of two chemists) grew crystals for his project. He weighed out chemicals and made solutions, and eventually harvested some pretty crystals.
