Welcome to the official UNM designated webspace for Kristin Roybal. This will serve as a resource for information about me, including educational background and activities, current projects, and useful links.
I am currently a first year Graduate student in the Sociology deparment's MA program. I received my BA in Sociology with minors in Psychology and Flamenco dance from UNM in May of 2008, and continue with my studies in Sociology and Flamenco.
Right now I work in the Sociology department as a GA (for 280.002, 481.001 and .002, 424, and 488) in order to help pay for school and costs of living. In Fall '08 I was a TA for Soc 481 lab sections 5 and 6, and was a GA for Soc 101 sections 4 and 7. Needless to say, I'm a pretty good resource if you need help with 481 - both the lab and the class as a whole.
Previously I worked at ITS as a part of the ITS Web Team. I enjoyed the job, my coworkers, and the tech-oriented atmosphere very much, and the job allowed me to continue my education and interests concerning website development. With that said, I remain active in practicing my web skills, focusing in more recent years on CSS and accessibility. My most recent project was to help design and code an entire website for my brother's production company, Incredible Films. Because I was determined to hand-code the entire site, I gained an incredible amount of knowledge of and practice with CSS, admittedly some of which I had previously learned but had since forgotten.
In my off-time from schoolwork and web work, I craft (with many mediums for various purposes/uses/effects), play games (video, computer, and board), dance flamenco at the conservatory, and hang around with my cat. In the past few years my partner and I have been taking steps to live more sustainably, and through this desire one of the main things we have been working on is creating and maintaining a garden in our backyard. We are hoping to have a more successful garden this year, as well as creating some infrastructure to allow us to continue to grow our own food throughout the year.
More information will be provided when I have another chunk of available time (after reading for class, grading, maintaining and updating the Incredible Films site, and doing random around-the-house things).
